Basically they're a band that I like. And they're from Oklahoma City. They've been around for a long while (mid 1980's or so) and have had only 1 commercial radio hit.

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Those are pretty much the big 3. The first one is a little more straight forward and abbrasive than the other 2. I would recommend either The Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi as a first listen.

Thanks for letting us know more about "The Flaming Lips". Gpa & I were curious & went to their website & listened to some tunes and found we liked their music! Favorites -- "She Don't Use Jelly" and "Do you Realize".
